Athirapilli Falls, the largest waterfall in Kerala, is on the Chalakudy River, a tributary of the Periyar River, originating from the Western Ghats.A unique feature is that there are three vantage points from which you can observe the falls. The first is the Athirapilli Viewpoint along the Chalakudy Munnar Road, a sort of an introduction to the magnificence that you are going to experience up close.Once you get to the entry point, you trek about 500 metres to the top of the falls where the river flows over a broad bed of large rocks before it cascades down 80 feet in three separate streams.Another trek of less than a kilometre but a bit more challenging takes you to the third vantage point, and definitely the best view from the base of the waterfall where you can enjoy the beauty of the cascading waters at close quarters, falling on the rocks below and setting off huge sprays of water. If you are adventurous and get close enough, you can enjoy the coolness of the spray hitting your face. It’s good to be adventurous, but please be careful.

One of the best natural waterfall in kerala.one in your life must visit here. Car parking in the road side. Have to take tickets for car, bus, taxi also 30/- per head .alot of small shops available there.small hotels ,coffee shops available. If buying water from inside athirapilli we must give 10 /- extra & when we get back they will give 10/- back .washrooms available. Resting area available. Must take care of your belongings because lot of monkeys are there ,they will come near to you and take the things from you like snacks ,water etc. also can take wheeler chair to there.
Athirappilly falls is a very beautiful, relaxing and refreshing place even more beautiful in the rainy season. When I went there was not much water, even though it’s looking beautiful.Be careful of monkeys while going there. If you have any food in hand, be careful to hide it or the monkeys will snatch it away.

Beautiful nature spot. Depending of the season the water level is different. We visited in October and the water level was not as high as in the rainy season but still a lot of it coming down. You can see it both from the top or walk down and see it from the bottom. You need to see both.

Beautiful waterfalls – visit when there is rains to witness the really beauty of Athirapally waterfalls. The entire road can get crowded and parking can become verybdifficult – so recommend reaching there by 8am on weekends/holidays to avoid the crowds. There is a hole downt to the bottom of the falls where the views are even better and the water is sprayed all around.

Beauty of nature at its best..Rainy season adds more widness to the waterfall.Entry fees per person is reasonable. Moreover, it is a plastic free zone.Shops charge additional 10Rs for plastic bottled items and refunds it up on returning the bottle at the exit.Place is more clean now. There is a walking trial of about 400m to go to the bottom area beside the waterfall. Overall a must visit place during mild rainy seasons.Parking is bit tough on weekends, as we have to park far away from the entrance and walk all the ways back.
